Become a Lionheart Volunteer
Help us ensure that no child grieves alone.
At Lionheart, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. As a community-powered organisation, we rely on the compassion, time and dedication of people like you to deliver our programs.
More than 60 active volunteers bring warmth and empathy to the children and families who attend our programs. You might greet families at a day program, support children during activities, help keep everyone well-fed or simply sit alongside someone in their grief. However you choose to help, you make a meaningful difference.

Why Volunteer With Lionheart?
Volunteering with Lionheart is more than giving your time. It's about joining a purpose-driven, supportive community. You’ll help families feel less alone and witness the powerful connections that form when people feel seen and supported in their grief.
Many of our volunteers say that their involvement with Lionheart changes their lives too. They often describe a deep sense of belonging, purpose and fulfilment.
What Volunteering Looks Like
Volunteers help in many ways. You might assist at our New Families or Returning Families day programs, prepare activity materials, or support our team during special events like Children’s Grief Awareness Day or our Annual Quiz Night.
We welcome people from all backgrounds. Some volunteers support families directly during programs. Others prefer working behind the scenes with set-up, admin or event preparation. No matter your role, your care and time have a real impact. Most importantly, you bring a kind heart and a willingness to be part of a supportive community.
